Mouse's Daily Torment's, 2020

It’s always there, I can feel it.

Not like its brother who is always 6 foot away.

Its hiding, coming out at night… hiding; in the nooks, in its crannies.

It has two sides, a quiet being. Hidden away, safe. Silent, tucked under the covers. Safe for tonight but tomorrow poses a new story to be told.

During the night it rattles, rummaging through the dog’s food, through the bins. Clinging onto a life that has so far worked well. It’s a selfish beast.

The mouse has to adapt, for tonight it was almost caught.

The residents grew fed up, they grew old, and grew wise to its routines.

He has no life and no friends, just his routine.

But tonight, the mouse is safe. He shall adapt in due course.
